If you are interested in technical things like maintaining air conditioning, heating, venilation, refriferation and installing and troubleshooting, then a HVAC technician job may be for you HVAC technicians are professionals who have the skill necessary to analyze new sites that are ripe for new heating and air units. They make recommendations, read blueprints and have great analytical skills. With a skill set like this, these technicians are able to make a very decent salary.

The key to being marketable as an HVAC specialist is having the right credentials. An individual may obtain his or her professional certification via any number of air conditioning schools. These can be online or on-site programs and usually last from 6 months to 24 months. But, what if school isn't for you? There are other options. You could learn the trade by working with a trained specialist as his/her apprentice. This will help you acquire the desired skills, but it may not be enough for some companies who may want their techs to be certified.

It's not enough to attend just any school in hopes that it will be enough to meet the qualifications on a potential employer. This is why it is essential that you thoroughly research the college to make sure it pases muster. So, when you are on your search for the right college make sure that they are accredited by agencies like the Partnership for Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Accreditation and their sister organizations. This is important because may employers base their hiring decisions on these factors.

The job market for HVAC specialists is a promising one. As of 2008-2009, there were over three hundred thousand jobs held by these technicians. The advantage of choosing this career is the demand due to the rise in home construction in many areas across the country. Even in areas where there is a slump in construction the demand for these professionals is still present due the need for ongoing maintenance and repair of older systems.Therefore, take heart in knowing that no matter where you are located, there is a job for you. Especially due to the fact that there are so many government initiatives to promote energy conservation. This is spurring business and home owners to revamp thier entire systems.

All in all, a decision to become certified in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning is a wise and promising one.
